Megève ski holidays

Families and mixed groups who want long, wooded runs, a real village at night and the Mont Blanc massif in view all day. Most of the 228 runs in Evasion Mont Blanc are green, blue or red (Megève Tourisme), and the resort keeps two dedicated beginner areas, at Rochebrune and Mont d'Arbois and at Petit Rochebrune (Megève Tourisme).

Strong skiers are not left out: the 41 black runs, Côte 2000 and the slopes below Mont Joly give them their own mornings. For a family with mixed levels we book private instruction by level, so a first timer learns on quiet snow while the rest of the group skis further, and everyone meets again for lunch.

Megève skis across separate mountains rather than one bowl: Rochebrune and Côte 2000, Mont d'Arbois with Princesse, and Le Jaillet. Mont d'Arbois links over to Saint Gervais and Saint Nicolas de Véroce, and the Evasion Mont Blanc pass also covers Combloux, La Giettaz and Les Contamines (Megève ski lifts).

Le Jaillet is part of a smaller area with Combloux and La Giettaz, 66 runs and 10 lifts, often quieter and gentle for families (Megève Tourisme). Because the sectors start from different points of the village, where you sleep decides how the morning begins, so we plan the base and the ski days together.

The Mont Blanc Unlimited pass adds the ski areas of the Chamonix valley and Courmayeur in Italy (Megève ski lifts), so a day in Chamonix can sit inside the same trip.

For 2026/27 the lifts open in full on December 19, 2026 and close on April 4, 2027, with partial weekends on December 5 and 6 on Côte 2000 and Mont d'Arbois, and more sectors from December 12 (Megève ski lifts). January and March are calmer than the holiday weeks.

The village sits around 1,113 m, so early and late in the season the snow is about which sector you ski. The lift company calls Côte 2000 one of the snowiest sectors of the resort (Megève ski lifts), and it is among the first to open. We watch the conditions and plan the days around them.

Fly into Geneva, about 1 hour 15 minutes from Megève by car. Annecy is about 1 hour 15 minutes away, Chambéry 1 hour 30 minutes with seasonal winter flights, and Lyon about 2 hours 15 minutes (Megève Tourisme).

By rail, the TGV runs from Paris and Lyon to Sallanches Combloux Megève, 12 km from the village (Megève Tourisme). Megève also has an altiport for light aircraft and helicopters, close to the village and the slopes. We arrange the transfer from whichever airport or station you arrive at, and private charter when the schedule calls for it.

The centre gives you the cobbled streets, the shops and dinner on foot; Rochebrune and Mont d'Arbois put you closer to their own lifts and to quieter evenings; Le Jaillet suits families who want gentle slopes on the doorstep. Each sector has its own lift base, so the choice shapes every morning.

We do not sell from a fixed list of hotels or chalets. We look at who is coming, how each of them skis and how they like to spend the evening, then tell you where to stay, and why.
