Crans Montana ski holidays

Families and mixed groups who like long, sunny cruising more than steep terrain. The 140 km of marked pistes face south, between 1,500 m and the Plaine Morte glacier at about 3,000 m (Crans Montana), and there are good beginner areas beneath Cry d'Er and Les Violettes, with gentle slopes on the golf course for nervous first days (Snowcarbon).

The longer runs start high: over 1,400 m of skiable vertical from the glacier down to the plateau (Epic Pass). For a family with mixed levels we book private instruction by level rather than one lesson for everyone, and plan the day so the group meets again for lunch. Yes. The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships run from February 1 to 14, 2027, on Mont Lachaux and the Piste Nationale (Crans Montana 2027), and the ski area stays open during the event (Crans Montana). They return forty years after the 1987 edition (FIS).

Those two weeks change the trip. If you want to be there for the races, we book the stay, the instructor and the race tickets early, and plan ski days around the race calendar. If you would rather ski without the crowds, we look at January or March instead.

Between December 19, 2026 and April 4, 2027, the scheduled season, with a partial opening from November 28 if the snow allows (Crans Montana Mountain Resort). The first half of February belongs to the World Championships; plan that fortnight on purpose, one way or the other.

From Geneva Airport it is about 1 hour 55 minutes by car, or about 2 hours 10 minutes by train to Sierre and the funicular, which climbs to Crans Montana in 13 minutes from a station five minutes' walk from the trains (Crans Montana).
